In November of 2009 I wrote this blog and thought it would be good to revisit this. Enjoy!

What does your bedroom look like? Is it a place where you can go to and it feels like a refuge for you and your spouse? Or, do you have clutter and junk everywhere on the floor, bed and dresser? More than likely there is no romance going on in your master bedroom. It is hard to get in a sexy mood with a pile of clothes on the bed. Do you want to clean up your act and set a beautiful romantic retreat for you and your spouse? Today I am will help you clean out the clutter. On Friday I will discuss how to make your room comfortable and romantic. Follow these simple steps and before you know it you will have the bedroom you can both feel welcomed in.

First you need to do something about the clutter. Grab your spouse and explain that you want to have a place where you both can go to and feel relaxed. You need their help to accomplish it. If you are both overwhelmed then take only fifteen minutes a day and start to clean up the room. Start with the floors and set the timer for fifteen minutes. Divide your things into 3 piles: hamper, donate to thrift store and trash. If you don’t own a hamper then put a box in the corner. Over the weekend when you are out shopping look for a hamper that would look good in the corner of the room or closet. Nice things keep you committed to picking up your stuff. You need to start to pick up the floor and see how fast you can do it. If you didn’t complete in fifteen minutes this evening then tomorrow continue for fifteen minutes until it is done.

Then move on to your bed, take everything off your bed and straighten it up. Fluff the pillows and make it inviting to sleep in. If the bedding is dirty then put on new sheets and make a mental note to wash the blankets and bedcover over the weekend. If your bedspread looks shabby, then talk about purchasing a new bedspread over the weekend. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just something that looks clean and is in the colors you both like. Maybe that could be your Christmas present for each other. Let friends and family know what you are trying to do. If they ask what you need give them a list they can choose from: candles, pillows, draperies, bedspread, towels, pictures, new lamps, etc. You could go as far as registering at someplace like Target, Wal-Mart, Pottery Barn or Macy. People can go and pick out what they would like to give you.

When the floor and bed has been picked up then pick up your dresser and end tables. Clear the clutter on top and inside the drawers. On top of your end tables there should be a lamp with a three way switch, and radio alarm clock and maybe a book, nothing else. On the dresser, you want to put your colognes, another three way lamp and a candle.

Lastly, clean out your closet! Don’t keep clothes and shoes you are not using or they are too worn out. Let there be space to hang empty hangers when clothes go into the hamper. Allow room for you shoes. If you have a place, try to hang a calendar in the closet and a couple of hooks for your robe.

Make it a pack that when you get up in the morning things will be put back in their place. And before you go to bed in the evening things will be put away. When you both work at keeping your bedroom clean and clutter free it frees your mind, there is more room for thinking about romance.

For those men who think that it isn’t that important to them so why should it matter to the woman in their lives. Think again! Women are very visual and tactile. If you want more lovin you may want to help with keeping it clean and spend the money on making the room look romantic and peaceful. A happy wife makes for a very happy husband.

So clean up your act and get the romance back in your bedroom.

With Thanksgiving around the corner and all the craziness of the holidays ahead of us it is important to take time out to connect with your sweetheart. After the festivities of your Thanksgiving Day have ended I want to make sure you have an enjoyable time together.

I have something fun you can do when the house is finally quiet and there is only you and your sweetheart. I’m keeping it simple for you, not a lot of preparation, just items you probably already have on hand.

• Candles (Cinnamon scent would be nice)
• Romantic Music
• Thanksgiving Card

Over the weekend take stock of what you have on hand and pick up the rest when you are out shopping. If you have time and the money ladies stop at your favorite lingerie shop and pick up something new and sexy to wear for when you finally have your alone time with your sweetheart.

Check in on Wednesday, November 21st, and you will get the rest of your plan for your romantic Thanksgiving.

St Patrick’s Day is on Saturday this year and instead of going out and celebrating with friends or family why don’t you plan on having a very sexy and romantic evening with your sweetheart.

Since this year we get to celebrate “Leap Year” and today is February 29th, Leap Day, I thought you would enjoy adding a little surprise to this once every 4th year day. Don’t worry you will find this easy and simple to do.

Do you think that once you are married you don’t need to do anything to keep the passion in your relationship? Well you are wrong. You have to work at making your relationship passionate and loving. There is a reason why I have so many couples coming up to Larry and me and asking us how they can have a relationship like the one we have.

Well it didn’t come about very easily and through trial and error we figured it out. One thing I do know is we have worked at it and March 18th we will be married for 45 years and the passion and love is still there. So if you think there is no passion after 45 years?  Well you are wrong! Most couples become lazy and think because you are married you don’t need to do anything to keep the romance going.  They think it should be spontaneous.

The Today Show had Lesley Jane Seymour of More Magazine and clinical psychologist, Jeff Gardere talk about the importance of keeping the passion in your relationship and what you need to do.

Have you found your sweet spot with your sweetheart yet? You are probably wondering what I am talking about and it isn’t what you are thinking……  By sweet spot I mean something you enjoy doing together.  Something that makes you feel connected to each other:

• Cooking together
• Gardening
• Car Races
• Running
• Playing a sport
• Running
• Reading
• Etc.

A friend was telling me her husband has a Harley Davidson Motorcycle and they enjoy working on it together while listening to old school rock and roll. When they are done they wash the bike and go for a ride. She said she enjoys helping him and then climbing on the bike and wrapping her arms around him and letting the wind blow through her hair.

Larry and I enjoy cooking together. On the weekends we plan our menu, go shopping together and when we get home we prepare our feast while listening to soft jazz in the background.

One couple we know enjoys gardening together. Their backyard is beautiful and after a day of weeding, mulching and planting they sit in their yard with a tall glass of ice tea and enjoy the labors of their work. During the winter months they go through gardening catalogs and plan their garden.

Another couple enjoys reading together. They go to the library and pick out the latest book and in the evening they will sit by the fireplace, have a glass of wine and read to each other. Sometimes they will pick up a very steamy/romantic story to read. Talk about getting being the mood after reading a chapter or two!

Find the sweet spot that makes you feel connected, something you both enjoy and reminds you why you fell in love with each other.

Hey guys, if you are reading this and you are planning on purchasing a pair of cute sexy little panties for your sweetheart, you will need to make sure you know what size to buy her. If you don’t have a clue what size she wears, look in her lingerie draw and check out the label for her perfect fit. There is always a tag somewhere in the panties.

Once you have picked everything up then you are ready to prepare for a fun and very titillating Valentine’s Day.

On Valentine’s morning hand your sweetheart the Valentine’s card you purchased with the panties tucked inside along with a note written in it:

“Happy Valentine’s sweetheart, I’d like you to come and play with me tonight!”

In the evening light the candles, turn on the music and pour your favorite bubbly in 2 glasses and enjoy the evening together.

Ladies:

Put on the panties you gave your sweetheart to think about all day.

Guys:

Let your sweetheart know how much you enjoy looking at her beautiful body and can’t wait until she models her new sexy panties in the evening.

The anticipation of those sexy panties should put both of you in the mood for a very fun and romantic evening.

Since Valentine’s is on Tuesday and if you are usually too tired to think about getting in the mood on a week night then celebrate Valentine’s this weekend.  Whatever works for the two of you.
