Did you know it is Spouses Day on Saturday, January 26th? So let’s show our appreciation for our spouse by letting them know how much we appreciate everything they do for us and the family.

It doesn’t take a lot to show how special your spouse is to you. Guys you need to take the lead on what Roy did for Veronica one day.

You know how steamy your bathroom can get after taking a long hot shower? Well that is exactly what happened one morning after Roy had taken his shower. Veronica walked in to the bathroom to take hers and she found the mirror all steamed up in front of her and a note was written on it that said:

“You don’t need a mirror because you are the reflection of beauty to me!”

Roy wrote this to Veronica approximately 10 years ago and her face lite up telling me about this as if it was just yesterday. It really doesn’t take much to make your wife feel special and loved. All it takes is a little effort form you.

Ladies if you think I am letting you off the hook you are wrong! You can write on that steamy mirror:

“You don’t need a mirror because you are one handsome hunk of a man to me!”

Make your sweetheart feel special on Spouses Day and you will keep those sparks flying all year long.

Since it still gets dark early, I have a date night idea I bet you have never thought of. It is something that is inexpensive and fun.

Purchase a glow-in-the-dark Frisbee and head to your local park at sunset. Enjoy throwing your Frisbee at night. Work up a sweat, play and laugh together. Wager against each other and whoever wins get to choose where your next date will be for the following week.

Have a little fun, laugh a lot and get sweaty. It really doesn’t matter who wins. All that counts is your adrenaline is up and when you get home you are both ready to hop into the shower together. Imagine what that will lead to……Let the real fun begin.

Want an inexpensive idea to let your sweetheart know you love them? Something that will be totally unexpected and give them that warm fuzzy feeling all over? Well I have a great idea that came from my friend Veronica.

Veronica’s husband, Roy, surprised her with an irreplaceable gift and it didn’t cost him a cent. It only cost him time.

Roy rolled a small piece of paper up with the words written on it:

“I love you”

It looked like a tube. Then he wrapped it in tape with the sticky side out so the non-sticky side wouldn’t stick to the rolled “I love you”. On top of the tape he wrote:

“Open Carefully”

The note was inside the tightly rolled tape and could be pulled out. Then he tightly attached it to some 1 dollar bills Veronica had in her wallet.

She said he had to have done this while she was asleep because she never saw him do it. Over the weekend while she was shopping she grabbed her dollar bills to pay for some items she had purchased and they kept sticking and she couldn’t figure out why.

Finally, on Sunday while Veronica was at the store and she went to pay for something her curiosity got to her. She thought to herself, “Why are my dollar bills sticking?” Veronica looked on the other side of the bills and noticed the tape. She pulled it off and started to look at it closely when she notice the note to “Open Carefully” and upon further investigation she saw the note inside. She slowly pulled out the note and to her surprise there was her special handwritten note by her husband, Roy, saying “I love you”.

Veronica brought me the note all rolled up just like Roy had done in her hand. She slowly pulled out it out from the tape. You could see this was a priceless gift money couldn’t buy. She felt special and loved by her husband.

Veronica said what made it even more special is Roy didn’t say a word to her for those couple of days. He waited until she found it. She could not believe how patient he was.

Grab that tape and a small piece of paper and let your sweetheart know how much you love them. Money isn’t the only place you could put it on. It could go in their underwear draw underneath something so when they pull the top panties/shorts they will find it

Have you thought about checking to find out where there is live entertainment for date night recently? There is lots of good local talent right in your own backyard and it usually isn’t very expensive.

Here is a sample of what I found in our local independent newspaper the “Sun” and on the internet:

• Karaoke @ Applebees Restaurant in Santa Maria – Call to find out dates.

• Several wine tasting rooms in Solvang have evening entertainment on the weekends and the only thing it cost you is the fee for wine tasting.

So checkout your local newspapers and the internet and see if you can find something that is being offered in your area. It is usually inexpensive and you get to hear live local entertainment.

What a fun way to spend an evening with your sweetheart.

In the past when I have written about staying at a hotel, I have mentioned there could be hidden fees that you may not think about. Like the extra fees for parking? The video even mentions about looking out for additional fees for a newspaper at your door, snacks in the room and internet.

So be a savvy traveler when making reservations for a rental car, hotel or travel fares. You will want to find out if there are any additional fees.

Plan on having a fun filled vacation with your sweetheart and make sure you don’t have additional fees you were not planning on that could spoil your trip.
