New Year’s Eve is tomorrow night! Do you have plans to go out with friends or are you staying in like we are. We have done the parties and out to dinner with friends but have discovered we enjoy ringing in the New Year at home making a romantic dinner and eating it in front of the fireplace.

Our dinner typically is lobster, salad, French bread and a good bottle of local wine. If you are planning on staying home but don’t want to cook then order Chinese take out and enjoy eating it with chopsticks right out of the box together in front of the fireplace.

Do you want to have a sexy New Year’s evening after your party plans or your private dinner? When you get home or after dinner surprise your sweetheart with a note you have written that says:

“Happy New Year’s sweetheart! Pop the top, light the candles and we will start this New Year’s off with a big bang!”

Grab your candles, your favorite music and a bottle of bubbly and have a very romantic New Year’s Eve!

On Wednesday, December 30, I told you what I would be doing with my husband on New Year’s Eve. Well we had a change of plans, my daughter and I had met at Starbucks in the morning to work on my website and while we were on the web a little add popped up talking about a New Year’s Eve dinner at  Creekside Brewing Co in San Luis Obispo. We decided to click on it and see what the menu was like and where it was located.

Creekside Brewing Co is a small microbrewery located on a side street in downtown San Luis Obispo. The New Year’s Eve dinner menu looked very interesting and unusual. It was a six course dinner with beer tasting. It is kind of like a wine tasting dinner but it was less expensive. They said dinner started at 7:00 PM and ended at 9:00 PM. Early enough for us to get home before the real partiers got started. It sounded like something the guys would enjoy, so we called and made reservations for dinner.

This spur of the moment decision turned out to be one of the nicest New Year’s evenings we have had in a long time. The gourmet dinner was absolutely delicious and we learned from the brew master so much about pairing your beer with your menu. It was so much fun to taste the beer before we tasted the dinner and then eating dinner and drinking the beer. Some of the beers were very strong but when you paired it with something like a spicy shrimp and pozole corn it was outstanding. One of the most unusual items on the menu was the homemade gelato made with coffee, chocolate and stout. They served the beer with the same stout used in the gelato. It was a very dark beer served in a brandy glass. Who would have thought gelato and beer would go together but it did.

Eric was our brew master and he made it a very interesting an enjoyable evening. We totally enjoyed learning about the beers and how they were made and what type of foods to eat with it. Our husbands are still talking about what a great evening they had and how good the food was. My daughter & I were the designated drivers so we would take a couple of sips of the beers and let the guys finish off what we didn’t drink. We kept it a safe and fun evening. I will never look at beer the same way again.

For those who are planning on visiting or who live on the Central Coast I would highly recommend the next time you plan on going out to make it a point to have dinner there and enjoy the beers they have to offer. Ask your waiter what will go well with your dinner. You won’t be sorry you asked. Check it out : www.creeksidebrewing.com.  And for those who don’t live on the Central Coast check to see if there is a microbrewery near you and have a memorable evening enjoying their wonderful beers and food.

I know of so many people who once they have made plans are not willing to change things. They are so regimented it is sad. If we hadn’t decided to change our plans we would not have found out how good this place is and would not have had such a memorable New Year’s Eve. So when you have an opportunity to change things out, as long as it doesn’t affect other people,  go ahead get a little crazy and have fun. Change your plans!

New Year’s Eve will be on Thursday. Some of you will be going out with friends or having everyone at your house to ring in the New Year. Although, after you read my idea, you may change your mind and decide to have a very private party of your own.

You will want to plan a nice dinner for just the two of you with soft music in the background and candles. Don’t make it too heavy. You want it light and delicious.  Our dinner will consist of fresh broiled lobster, French whole wheat bread and salad; nothing could be simpler or more delicious. Of course there will be a little bubbly to drink. Later that evening you could t watch a movie or if you live on the West Coast like we do watch the New Year’s Eve ball when it goes down in New York on TV.

In the morning you will leave your spouse a special note on a small card to set the mood and anticipation. You will be inviting him or her to your private party at midnight. The note will read “At the stroke of midnight let’s treat each other to a “New Year’s Eve Delight!”  Of course this will be a very private evening with sexy lingerie involved, music and candles that give a soft glow in the bedroom and on each other.

Ring in the New Year with a little “New Year’s Eve Delight!”

Are you going to a New Year’s Eve Party or having one at your house this Thursday for New Year’s Eve? Would you like to give a gift to the hostess or the partiers as they head home after midnight from your party or maybe a little something for your spouse? Well I have an inexpensive and thoughtful idea. You can package this up before the party and give to the hostess, partiers or your spouse.

For the hostess:  Bring a bottle of sparkling cider or champagne along with a lottery ticket and a small bottle of hand sanitizer. Attach a note to the package wishing your host & hostess a “Happy, Healthy & Wealthy New Year!”

For the partiers at your home:   Wrap a lottery ticket and small bottle of hand sanitizer with a note wishing them a “Happy, Healthy & Wealthy New Year!”

For the party of two (your spouse and you): Why not do the same thing by letting them know how much you care by wrapping up bottle of sparkling cider or champagne with a lottery ticket , a small bottle of hand sanitizer and massage lotion wishing both of you a “Very Sexy, Happy, Healthy & Wealthy New Year!”

If you are not able to buy a lottery ticket where you live then replace it with a crisp new $1.00 bill. It is always fun to do the unexpected whether you are giving a gift to friends or to your spouse.
